2017 nat’l budget has P137-M infra assistance for 11 towns

Municipalities in Catanduanes stand to get a total of P137 million in funding for public infrastructure projects in the 2017 national budget, Congressman Cesar Sarmiento revealed last Friday.

In a meeting with some mayors at the ARDCI Corporate Inn, the congressman bared that the allocation for the province in the 2017 General Appropriations Act, dubbed as Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM), is broken down into P79,982,000 for Core Local Access Roads, P16,500,000 for Evacuation Facilities, and P41,222,000 for Potable Water Supply.

This aside from the  P1.2 billion worth of infrastructure projects allocated for implementation by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other programs and projects to be implemented by other government agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE            ), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The breakdown of the ADM funding by town is as follows: Bagamanoc - P6.417 million for local access road and P8 million for water supply; Baras – P3.08 million for local access road and P6 million for evacuation facility; Bato – P10 million for local access road and P3.036 million for water supply; Caramoran – P6.117 million for local access road, P2.5 million for evacuation facility and P5 million for water supply; Gigmoto – P14.175 million for local access road;

Pandan – P1.594 million for local access road, and P8 million for water supply; Panganiban – P13.3 million for local access road and P1 million for water supply; San Andres – P9 million for local access road, P4 million for evacuation facility and P1.172 million for water supply; San Miguel – P5 million for local access road and P4.214 million for water supply; Viga – P7.636 million for local access road and P2.05 million for water supply; and, Virac – P3.663 million for local access road, P4 million for evacuation facility and P8.75 million for water supply.
