Five municipalities deemed less affected by typhoon Nina last December 2016 will get 100 bags of rice from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to augment their respective relief efforts.

This piece of good news was personally relayed by Congressman Cesar Sarmiento to local officials of Caramoran, Pandan, Bagamanoc, Panganiban and Viga in a meeting at the ARDCI Corporate Inn last Friday (Jan. 27). Among those who attended the meeting were Mayor Robert Fernandez of Panganiban, Mayor Raul Tabirara of Pandan, Mayor Agnes Popa of Caramoran, Mayor Emeterio Tarin of Viga, Vice Mayor Remelito Cabrera of Panganiban, Vice Mayor Jennifer Tuplano of Viga, Vice Mayor Odilon Pascua of Bagamanoc, and Vice Mayor Concordio delos Santos of Pandan, as well as some Municipal DRRM Officers and Municipal SWD Officers.

Cong. Sarmiento disclosed that he asked the undersecretary of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to provide additional relief assistance to the five towns, aside from the 50 bags of rice secured by the congressman and provided to each of the municipalities earlier. He added that his office had gotten feedback on Facebook from residents of the towns reporting damage to barangays in their areas.

In return, the solon asked the municipal officials to acknowledge the assistance provided by OCD through his initiative. He likewise reminded MSWDOs to submit the rice distribution list to the OCD Regional Office No. 5 for liquidation purposes.
