Three abaca strippers from Caramoran town were arrested by the Panganiban police last week after catching them in the act of cutting timber with the use of an undocumented chainsaw with defaced serial number.
Senior Inspector Ace Flores identified the suspects as Jomark Torrente, 23, Anselmo Surban, 40, and Arnel Orbito, 43, residents of Milaviga and Datag. They were nabbed at 5:30 P.M. of March 8 at sitio Campo Ermitaño in barangay San Miguel, Panganiban town.
Three days earlier, the town police led by PO3 Jumel Morales recovered 10 pieces of illegally sawn “dao” lumber with a volume of 128 board feet at the Panabananon area of barangay Milaviga.
In Cahan, Bagamanoc, policemen led by Senior Inspector Danilo Tenerife recovered 10 pieces of abandoned 2x6x12 red and white lauan lumber with a volume of 120 board feet last March 7.
The seized lumber were placed under custody of the police stations for subsequent turnover to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office.
