A 23-year old man from barangay Palnab del Norte was arrested last week after he stole the motorcycle of a Virac policeman then walking the beat around Plaza Rizal.

John Carlo Tablizo faces a criminal charge for violation of Republic Act 10883, otherwise known as the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

The incident occurred at 4:30 A.M. of April 26, 2018 at barangay Salvacion while PO3 Romeo Angeles, 38, a resident of Sto. Cristo, was conducting foot patrol at the town plaza. He noticed a skinny and long-haired man boarding the lawman’s red Honda XRM (8768 EA) and driving it towards the Virac Public Market.

The policeman gave chase on foot but was not able to catch up with the suspect. A follow-up operation conducted by intelligence operatives and patrol members of the Virac MPS led to the recovery of the motorcycle still in Tablizo’s possession in Palnab del Norte.
