Out of the 13 resorts in the island province of Catanduanes, only one – Kemji Resort and Restaurant – has an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) and Wastewater Discharge Permit (WDP), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) reported recently.

According to the report, Kemji Resort in San Isidro Village, Virac, owned by Nancy Cua, has complied with the permitting requirements and was issued with the ECC, WDP and a Permit to Operate Air Pollution Installation (POA) by the agency. Its wastewater discharge permit expires in December 2023.

The other resorts which have approved ECCs are: P. These five resorts with ECCs have no approved Wasterwater Discharge Permit and POAs along with Paradise Beach Resort in Agojo, San Andres; Cathy’s Spring Resort in Sagrada, Viga; Twin Rock Beach Resort in Igang, Virac; Front Beach Resort in Balite, Virac; Moonwalk Villa Resort & Inn at Calatagan, Virac; Swiss Palawig Resort in San Andres; and, Villa Andrea Resort in Sto.
