A truck that lost its brakes in the national highway traversing through barangay San Pedro (Summit) in Viga town narrowly avoided a more serious accident when it lost its brakes and plowed into a pile of earth.

According to the report of the Viga police, the blue Isuzi truck driven by Alex Gimpaya, 41, of Magsaysay, Bagamanoc, was on its way to Virac at 11 A.M. of July 23 when its brakes failed.

To avoid falling into the deep ravine, the truck bumped the eroded soil at the mountain side at the right lane of the highway.

As a result, passengers Sarah Jane Aycardo, 23, her son James Mark, 5, Beverly Ballaran, 30, and Rose Anne Tuquero, were injured in the different parts of their bodies and were rushed to the Viga district hospital and the Eastern Bicol Medical Center in Virac.
