ARDCI Microfinance has signed a fund agreement with the international non-profit organization water.org for its new loan program dubbed as the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)n Program.

Under the agreement inked on Sept. 11, 2018, the new program is a combined grant and loans that will be accessed by ARDCI for its members, with pilot testing to begin on Nov. 5, 2018, at nine selected branches.

Water.org will provide a grant of $107,000 plus another $3.3 million share of ARDCI in its partnership that will be cascaded through an incentivized loan program.

The program aims to address the problem on accessibility on water sanitation through opportunity on microcredit, that is, less interest and well manageable and supervised project, through the ARDCI management.

Water.org has claimed this approach has benefitted 13 million people around the world and still continued in scaling its impact on different countries reached by the program.

Water.org is a result of a merger of two non-profit organizations, H2O Africa that is headed by Matt Damon and Water Partners through Gary White that primarily aims to aid regions of developing countries that do not have access to safe drinking and sanitation.

The ARDCI believes that this program could somehow preempt the looming problem in the province on water shortage that is recently affecting the consumers and the power supply provider that depends on hydropower plant.

In its initial implementation, the program is expected to benefit approximately 16,000 clients.

Universal, affordable and sustainable access to WASH is a key public health issue within international development and is one of the foci of Millennium Development Goals for developing countries.
