A case for murder has been filed against the suspect in the fatal mauling of a Virac resident the other week, the Catanduanes police reported.

The incident came to the police knowledge in the early morning of Oct. 12, 2018 when Philippine Red Cross personnel reported that an unidentified male was found lying and already lifeless at the barangay road in front of the Bigaa plaza.

Responding policemen later determined the identity of the dead man as Bernard Tablate Tabios, 34, who was then wearing an orange T-shirt and shorts.

A post-mortem examination conducted by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Elva Joson determined that the cause of death was traumatic brain injury secondary to blunt head trauma.

A follow-up investigation at the scene confirmed to the police that the victim was indeed mauled by a certain Clinton Brian Zafe at around 1 A.M. of Oct. 12, with the victim left unconscious.
