Police find abandoned sawn lumber in Gigmoto

Patrolling policemen came upon a stockpile of undocumented lumber in Gigmoto town last week.

Elements of the Gigmoto police station led by PO1 Rhonnel Loria were on prophylactic patrol at 4:45 P.M. of Nov. 14, 2018 in barangay San Vicente when they chanced upon the 33 pieces of red lauan lumber with a total volume of 151 board feet and an estimated value of 9,060.00.

The lumber, which were brought to the police station, will be turned over to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)

Meanwile, the Baras police is set to file a formal charge against four abaca stripper recently arrested for cutting trees with the use of a chainsaw.

Jessie Tayam, 51, and Winnie dela Cruz, 52, both of Dororian, Gigmoto, were with Jaime Camacho, 44, and Danilo Camacho, 65, both of Caragumihan, Baras, at 3:45 P.M. of Nov. 9 in the latter village when they were caught in the act of cutting trees using a chainsaw registered to one Eddie Bautista.

The team led by Inspector Michael Albania later confirmed with the PENRO that the suspects had no permit to cut trees
