A criminal charge for violation of gun laws is being prepared by the Pandan police station for filing against a construction worker who used an improvised gun in hunting birds last week.

Arrested and detained after the incident was Chiquito Sabeniano Fernandez, 35, a resident of Toytoy, Caramoran, who was caught in possession of a “boga” in Balangonan, Pandan last Dec. 17, 2018 at about 2:50 P.M.

Earlier, the local police received information from SPO2 Virgilio Cornelio of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Catanduanes regarding a person allegedly in possession of an improvised gun at Balangonan.

Immediately, personnel of the Pandan police led by Senior Inspector Voltaire Jun Pedido, together with SPO2 Cornelio, proceeded to the village where they saw Fernandez hunting bird beside the road, with the projectiles almost hitting passersby.

The suspect failed to present pertinent documents regarding the legality of the deadly weapon and was promptly arrested, with the police confiscating in his possession the “boga”, a plastic bottle of denatured alcohol and 85 pieces of marbles used as ammunition.
