Two residents of Pandan town, one of them of minor age, were apprehended by law enforcers while the suspects were in possession of illegal fishing paraphernalia last Jan. 4, 2019.

Joint elements of the Pandan police station led by PO1 Arnel Binas, the Catanduanes police special operations team led by PO2 Dan Bagay and representatives of the Pandan local government and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) found Helber dela Cruz, 25, of Balangonan, and the 16-year old boy from Bagawang, while in possession and control of a compressor engine, 50 meters of compressor hose, a motorized banca, five pieces improvised flippers, three spear guns, and about nine kilos of “hinisan” fish.

Meanwhile, two abaca strippers were arrested last Jan. 8 when they were caught in the act of cutting down a tree with the use of a chainsaw in Katipunan, San Miguel.

San Miguel police personnel led by Senior Inspector Kevin Caparroso together with the Crimina Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) came upon Pederito Morales, 39, and Nardito de Mesa Jr., 29, both of Pagsangahan, while using a Stihl chainsaw with no proper documents to cut down a tree.

The team confiscated as evidence four pieces of 2x2 lumber as evidence.
