5 nabbed for illegal fishing in Pandan

Caramoran law enforcers apprehended five men from Pandan last week for possession of illegal fishing paraphernalia after a brief chase in the town’s municipal waters.

Joint elements of the town police led by SPO1 Roel Evangelista under the supervision of Inspector John Michael Miraflor, operatives of the 1st Catanduanes Provincial Mobile Force Company 2nd Platoon at Sabloyon detachment under Insp. Mark Leslie Barlis, and Pandan police and Special Operations Team operative PO2 Dan Bagay were on seaborne patrol at 7:30 A.M. of Jan. 16, 2019 when they saw the group of suspects aboard a motorized banca near barangay Toytoy.

The suspects tried to elude the police during the pursuit and threw a compressor engine overboard before they were arrested.

They were identified as Ruel Posada, 27, Jay-R Asanza, 24, and Mario Belarmino, 18, all of Balangonan, and, Celso dela Vega, 26, and Michael Jay Posada, 20, both of Cagnipa.

Seized from them were the banca and its accessories, a compressor tank, rolled compressor hose, goggle, spear gun, improvised diving fin and flashlight.
