A construction worker was injured last week in San Andres town when the pile hammer of a crane accidentally dropped on his hand.

The police report identified the victim as Edison Arcilla, 35, a resident of Buyo, Virac, and laborer of A.V. Laynes Construction and General Merchandise that was constructing a building at the San Andres Vocational School (SAVS) for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

It stated that at 11:30 A.M. of Jan. 28, 2019 at the site in barangay Divino Rostro, Arcilla was working with the crane when the cable wire holding the lifting pile hammer and steel guide accidentally loosened, with the entire assembly dropping and hitting the hand of the victim.

Fortunately, Arcilla suffered only a minor injury and was released from the San Andres Rural Health Unit after treatment.
