Charges of violation of forest laws and the chainsaw act has been filed against two persons who were caught in possession of illegally-sawn lumber as well as an undocumented chainsaw last week in Pandan town.

Elements of the town police led by PO2 Javier Lucre and PO1 Arnel Binas arrested Eugenio Zuniega, 34, an abaca stripper, and Jeffrey Lopez, 39, an “artificial private technician”, both from Libod, while in possession of 10 pieces of “lanipga” sawn lumber with a volume of 37 board feet and a Stihl chainsaw without serial number.

In Salvacion, Bagamanoc, joint elements of the Bagamanoc and Panganiban police stations led by SPO1 Lino Alberto recovered 12 pieces of abandoned sawn “dagang” lumber at the river last Jan. 28, 2019 at 11 A.M. while they were on operation against illegal logging activity.

Meanwhile, a charcoal vendor was apprehended by joint elements of the Virac police station and the Catanduanes Police Intelligence Bureau led by PO3 Roland Tejerero.

Ferdinand Santos, 40, a resident of Sto. Domingo, was transporting six sacks of undocumented wood charcoal on board a top-down Kawasaki motorcycle when intercepted by the police along the national highway in Bigaa at 7:20 P.M. of Jan. 29, 2019.

Two days earlier, an abaca stripper was arrested for transporting 60 pieces of undocumented sawn lumber on board a top-down tricycle in Virac.

The police flagged down the unregistered tricycle driven by Jomar Marquez, 38, of Tubaon, while it was loaded with the lumber valued at P32,400, along the road at Simamla Proper.
