DTI intensifies consumer education among students

THE DTI’S CONSUMER EDUCATION CAMPAIGN. is launched at San Andres Vocational School.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Catanduanes provincial office is intensifying the conduct of consumer education program to raise the level of awareness and understanding of the consumers, as well as students, on Basic Consumer Rights and Responsibilities and the Salient Features of the Republic Act 7394, otherwise known as Consumer Act of the Philippines.

Raising consumer protection and awareness will benefit the students and the nation in the long run, the DTI believes, with the series of consumer education conceptualized on the recognition that students or the academe can be effective stimuli to consumer awareness.

This year, the DTI will conduct consumer education and advocacy at different senior high schools in the province of Catanduanes.

The activity, dubbed as “Consumerism Today: Seminar for the New Generation Consumers”, was first conducted last Jan. 29, 2019 at San Andres Vocational School, the first recipient of this program with (42 Accounting Business Management (ABM) Senior High Students handled by their section adviser, Ms. Noreen G. Barba. The resource person of said activity was Ms. Celeste B. Tribiana, Consumer Protection Division head of DTI Catanduanes Provincial Office.
