A set of equipment for the Wearables and Homestyles Industry Cluster in Baras was turned over to its rightful beneficiaries through the DTI Shared Service Facilities Program last week.

The Negosyo Center Baras-assisted clients received the set of SSF equipment composed of Edging Machines, Drill Press, Grinding Machines, Industrial Sewing machine, Circular Saw and Twining Equipment for chosen handicraft and furniture manufacturers and associations in said municipality.

It was made possible through the collaboration of DTI Catanduanes Provincial Office through Negosyo Center Baras handled by its business counselor, Fatimah Tanael, and the Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Chito Chi. Also present during the ceremony last Feb. 21, 2019 were municipal engineer Noe Teves and ALS Coordinator Angelita Alcantara.

During the program, PD Baldano challenged the beneficiaries to maximize the use of SSF tools and equipment to increase their production, which comes hand-in-hand with an increase in sales and expansion of market. He also said that its advantage should be used not just in boosting productivity but also in improving the quality of finished products.

In his acceptance speech, Mayor Chi encouraged the beneficiaries to be worthy custodians of the SSF equipment granted to them and assured that he will always be of support to the projects and activities aiming to develop the local industries in Baras.

One of the beneficiaries, Ms. Rebecca Apanti, owner of Apanti Agri-Industrial Product and Development, also expressed her gratitude in behalf of her fellow beneficiaries during her testimonial speech and encouraged them to have the same mindset by making sure they love what they do, which she said will then transcend to the output of her efforts not just for themselves but also for the municipality.

One of the highlights of the SSF turn-over was the signing of Memorandum Receipts among the SSF beneficiaries.
