An old grudge was blamed for the hacking of a Caramoran resident last Saturday evening (Feb. 23, 2019) in barangay Panique, the police said.

The police report stated that at about 11:45 P.M. that evening, both Merlito Irapan and farmer Sandy Abines, 42, were under the influence of intoxicating liquor when Abines suddenly hacked Irapan in the different parts of his body.

The victim was brought to the nearest hospital for treatment while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police.

In another development, an abaca stripper was arrested in a police raid on illegal cockfighting in San Miguel town last week.

Jose Molina, 62, of barangay Dayawa, was apparently the only one left behind at the “tupada” in barangay Obo at10:30 A.M. of Feb. 24 when the law enforcers led by Senior Inspector Robert Kevin Caparroso arrived, resulting in the other cockfighting aficionados scampering away.

Confiscated from the suspect was a fighting cock and a gaff.
