A woman was killed while her two companions were injured in Pandan town recently when the motorcycle they were riding went out of control due to a herd of goats.

The red Honda Supremo driven by farmer Albert Roxas, 23, together with back riders Amy Pante, 30, a housewife, and barangay kagawad Mercita Isorena, 45, all of Tokio, was travelling towards the poblacion along the curved and descending portion of the national road at 6:30 A.M. of Feb. 24, 2019 when a herd of goats crossed the highway.

Trying to avoid hitting the goats, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, causing them to crash on the hard concrete.

The trio, who sustained injuries on the different parts of their bodies, were taken to the Pandan district hospital but Pante was declared dead by Dr. Rafael Mariano at 8:24 A.M.

All of the injured were not wearing safety helmets at the time of the accident while Roxas had no driver’s license, with the motorcycle apparently unregistered.

The following day, Feb. 25, at 8 P.M.. student John Mark Teaño, 17, a resident of Kilikilihan, was driving a red Honda TMX along the national highway at sitio Paurog in barangay Siay, towards Virac when he accidentally hit a woman walking beside the road.

Both Teaño and the woman, housekeeper Emelda Lopez, 52, were rushed to the Eastern Bicol Medical Center but the latter was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Jefferson Espinola. The student, who had no license to drive, was admitted to the hospital due to injuries sustained in the mishap.
