An officer of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was injured last Saturday morning, Mar. 23, 2019, when his motorcycle figured in an accident caused by a stray dog in Bato town.

The report stated that at about 8:40 A.M. along the national highway in barangay Guinobatan, fire officer Richard Torrano, 28, of Mabato, San Miguel, was on board his black Kawasaki Rouser motorcycle and going towards Virac when a stray dog suddenly crossed the road intersection.

Torrano was forced brake suddenly, causing the motorcycle to fall and slide on the road before hitting a concrete wall.

Elements of Bato police station together with the local fire personnel assisted the victim and brought him to Immaculate Heart of Mary Hospital in Virac for immediate medical attention.

Just two hours earlier in barangay Marinawa, a Baja top-down tricycle without plate number, driven by laborer Ariel Bonita, 35, of Genitligan, Baras, was on its way to Virac with two passengers when it tried to overtake another vehicle.

As it encroached on the other lane, the top-down tricycle accidentally hit the side car of a Honda TMX driven by Sonny Traquena, 47, of Cabugao, Bato, who was then going to the poblacion.

The collision resulted in injuries to one of Bonita’s passengers, his wife Maria Sheila May Bonita, 32, while the two vehicles involved were damaged.
