The seven brown blocks containing white crystalline substance found floating at sea by three Bagamanoc fishermen last week has tested positive for cocaine.

Catanduanes police director Col. Paul Abay reported that the report of Chemist III Ronald Bobis of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration (PDEA) showed that the seven bricks with a gross weight of 7,039 grams or 7.039 kilos were positive for cocaine.

Last Mar. 25, 2019, Bugao Punong Barangay Evan Evangelista, together with fishermen Marcel Benosa, 33, Danilo Villasana, 65, and Tirso Bandola, 47, turned the items over to Bagamanoc MPS. The fishermen were fishing off Bugao along the municipal waters of the town at around 1:00 PM that day when they chanced upon a black fishnet floating in the sea. The net contained the brown blocks with dollar symbols written on them.
