A criminal complaint for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition has been filed against an abaca stripper from Bato after a search of his residence last March 29, 2018 yielded a revolver loaded with bullets.

The case for violation of Republic Act 10591 was filed against Freddie Sarte Torno, 47, of barangay Libjo, before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office last week.

Joint elements of the Bato municipal police station, the Catanduanes police intelligence branch and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company led by P/Lt. Francis Tabo I were armed with a search warrant issued by Presiding Judge Lelu P. Contreras of the Regional Trial Court Branch 43.

A search of his kitchen turned up a nickel chrome Cal. 38 revolver, with its serial number and manufacturer’s mark defaced, inside a pink umbrella hanging at the wall. The gun, which was loaded with four live ammunition, is now under custody of the prosecutor’s office and could be subjected to ballistics examination at the PNP Crime Laboratory to determine if it had been used in other crimes.
