Two abaca strippers in San Miguel town will have nothing to celebrate during the 4th Abaca Festival next month after they were caught in possession of illegally-cut sawn lumber last week.

A team led by P/Senior Master Sergeant Francis Benavidez was on a monitoring mission against all forms of illegal activities within the town at around 11 A.M. of April 12, 2019, when they chanced upon an illegal logging activity at barangay Patagan Salvacion.

Two abaca strippers, Erickson Tindugan, 25, and Edgardo Tindugan, 50, both residents of Obo, were arrested after being caught in the act of stockpiling 46 pieces of undocumented "tabgon” lumber just beside the stump of the tree that they had cut.

The seized lumber, with a total volume of 276 board feet and an estimated market value of P12, 420, was brought to the police station for proper disposition.
