The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Catanduanes Provincial Statistics Office will conduct the 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) in the province from 1 May 2019 to 31 July 2019 covering 87 establishments in the formal sector.

The CPBI is one of the regular censuses of the PSA undertaken every five years to collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the economy. The results of the CPBI serve as a benchmark information in the measurement of national and regional economic growth. Data to be collected from the CPBI will constitute bases upon which the government and the private sector can formulate policies and programs geared towards economic development.

The preliminary results of the 2018 CPBI will be posted on the PSA website in July 2020 while the final results will be released in October 2020. National and regional dissemination is scheduled to be held in December 2020.

The census was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the SSRCS, a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA No. 10625 to: ensure sound design for data collection;          minimize the burden placed upon the respondents; effect economy in statistical data collection; eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and, achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins all business establishments to support the said census.
