2 from Palawan nabbed in Virac for buying votes

In the lone police operation against vote-buying in last Monday’s elections, joint elements of several police units arrested two natives of Palawan province in the act of buying votes in San Isidro Village, Virac, last May 12, 2019 at 3:45 P.M.

According to Catanduanes police provincial director Col. Paul Abay, personnel from the Virac police station, Provincial Intelligence Branch, Catanduanes Investigation and Detection Team, and counterparts from the regional police, as well as the 83rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army led by PEMS Ronald Bares, nabbed Hazelyn Joy Aurelio, 40, an encoder at Oceanic Company and resident of Puerto Princesa City, and laborer Fernando Gregorio, 51, of Barangay 1, Roxas, Palawan.

The suspects yielded campaign paraphernalia and cash money amounting to P31,610. A sase for violation of Art. XXII, Sec 261 of the Omnibus Election Code is now being prepared for filing against them in court.
