7 arrested for fishery law violations

Seaborne patrol operations launched by the Catanduanes police resulted in the apprehension of seven men in Pandan and Panganiban towns last week.

The first arrest came at 7 A.M. of May 28, 2019, when a team led by Cpl. Dan Bagay of the Provincial Special Operations Team, together with personnel of Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Pandan police MPS, were on a seaborne patrol at the municipal sea waters off barangay Tokio when they chanced upon five fishermen using an air compressor to catch fish.

The suspects were identified as: Julio Anggulo, 50, Rico Segismundo, 34, Rexon Anggulo, 32, Rommel Bicena, 49, and Floro Roldan, 36, all residents of Minaili, Pandan.

Seized from their possession were a motorized boat with green and orange linings, boat engine of unknown brand, three (3) pairs of improvised diving fins, a pair of goggles, two (2) spear guns, a compressor tank, compressor engine; 30-foot long compressor hose, and three (3) kilos of assorted fish.

On June 1, 2019 at 7:30 A.M., in Cagdarao, Panganiban, police personnel led by Capt. Emsol Icawat and members of the Catanduanes PSOT, collared Samuel Odiaman, 49, and Mark Odiaman, 24, both residents of Tambongon, Viga, for possession of compressor in violation of Section 10 of Provincial Ordinance 2014-008.
