Locals and tourists eagerly anticipate the celebration of the annual Abaca Festival and among its highlights is the Trade and Tourism Fair which showcases not just abaca-based products but also a variety of novelty items, home decors, furniture, processed food and ornamentals.

About 60 exhibitors offered their goods last week during the fair opened May 27, 2019 until ended four days later. Acting Gov. Shirley Abundo, Acting Vice Gov. Rafael Zuniega and PBM Vincent Villaluna, over-all chairman of Catanduanes Abaca Festival, assisted by Sanggunian members, heads of offices and other guests spearheaded the official opening ceremonies at the capitol grounds.

Rev. Fr. Nestor Perpetuo Pastor led the invocation and blessing of booths during the activity sponsored by the Provincial Government of Catanduanes, the Provincial Tourism Office and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Catanduanes provincial office.

Each year, the fair aims to introduce new locally-made products together with the improved existing products of DTI-assisted clients so that their market reach would expand and at the same time promote the pride of Catanduanes embedded in the food and non-food items being offered to the public.

This year, the clients have witnessed the endless potentials of abaca through the newly developed products out of the fiber and other parts of the wonder plant.
