BATO POLICE OFFICERS. caught two Viracnons in the act of using a chainsaw to cut coconut trees into lumber without appropriate permits in Bote last week.

Two abaca strippers from Virac face prosecution for two criminal complaints after Bato policemen caught them in the act of using a chainsaw to cut down coconut trees for lumber last week.

Joint elements of the Bato police led by Master Sgt. Ramon Valatero and the Provincial Special Operation Team (PSOT) headed by Corporal Dan Bagay arrested Rosauro Teaño Tabiera, 33, of Buyo, and Celestino Aguilar Tria, 55, of Dugui San Vicente, at around 4 P.M. of June 6, 2019 while cutting up a coconut tree into sawn lumber at an abaca plantation at sitio Lugsadan in barangay Bote.

The police seized from the duo flitches of sawn coconut lumber and a chainsaw, both without proper documents. The suspects and the evidence are now under the custody of the Bato police as appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act (Act Amending RA 8048 or the Coconut Preservation Act of 1995) and RA 9175 (Chainsaw Act of 2002).
