2 apprehended for human trafficking

Two employees of a karaoke bar along the strip of liquor joints in San Vicente, Virac were caught in an anti-human trafficking operation mounted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Virac police recently.

Joint elements of the CIDG Catanduanes field unit led by Maj. Elvis Angayangay and the Virac police conducted the entrapment operation that led to the arrest of Fantasia Karaoke Bar cashier Jomar Gueta, 28, of sitio Balongbong, Sibacungan, Bato, and waitress Sherlyn Mae Canillas, 23, of San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal.

They were apprehended after receiving P2,500 in marked money, including two P1,000 “boodle” money, handed over by a policemen who posed as a customer at 12:26 A.M. of July 20, 2019.

Nine women ranging in age from 20 to 31 years and hailing mostly from Rizal province were rescued and turned over to the shelter run by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
