A police combat operation in a mountainous area of Caramoran town last week yielded a positive result with the recovery of two guns apparently left behind by a band of communist guerillas.

According to the report sent to the office of Catanduanes police provincial director Col. Paul Abay, joint elements of the Caramoran police led by Capt. John Michael Miraflor and the Special Operations Team headed by Cpl. Dan Bagay mounted the operation based on information from a reliable source.

As the team approached the target area at 4:05 P.M. of July 20, 2019, five suspected armed men believed to be members of the New People’s Army saw the lawmen and hurriedly escaped to different directions.

The police officers chased them but the armed men managed to escape. They went back to the area and recovered a 9mm pistol without any marking and with magazine loaded with 14 bullets, a bolo in its sheath, a yellow bag containing a Cal. 45 pistol with serial number 1121407 and loaded with seven bullets, a tumbler and a lunch box.
