Four arrested for undocumented narra

Three people were caught last Aug. 14, 2019 while transporting narra furniture without proper documents from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Tipped by Provincial Special Operation Team (PSOT) operative Cpl. Dan Bagay about furniture to be transported from Caramoran on board a van, the San Andres police established a chokepoint at Divino Rostro.

At 5:20 A.M., the police flagged down a white Nissan Urvan and recovered a narra wooden bed box valued at P16,000. The passengers, Teresita Verano, 75, and Vicente Verano, 69, as well as the van driver, Mark Anthony Sardalla, 33, all of Guiamlong, Caramoran, were arrested.

Three days earlier on Aug. 10, a carpenter from Buyo, Virac was caught last Aug. 10 while transporting narra railings without proper documents.

Joey Manoguid, 41, was arrested by joint elements of the Virac police led by Senior Master Sgt. Louie Garcia and CIDG Catanduanes led by Master Sgt. Mario dela Cruz while the suspect was transporting four pieces of the railings on his topdown motorcycle at Calatagan Tibang.

They will face charged for violating Presidential Decree 705 or the “Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.”
