A heated argument between two men at a wake for the dead in Caramoran led to violence last week, the police said.

Initial investigation stated that Jose Mari Flores de Quiroz, 43, and Eugenio Sarmiento Yusores, 47, both of Baybay, were engaged in a drinking spree at the wake of a certain May Abe on Sept. 1, 2019 when they argued about something.

De Quiroz decided to go home but Sarmiento followed him. Upon noticing that he was being tailed, de Quiroz hurriedly went inside his house, got a bolo and hacked his former drinking partner at the back of the head.

Sarmiento was rushed to the Pandan district hospital for treatment.

A day earlier, in barangay Sabangan, Rogelio Aguilar dela Cruz, 68, was sleeping inside his residence at about 12:40 P.M. when he was awakened by the noise made by the quarreling of his two sons, “Isaw” and Johnny, who were both drunk.

He tried to pacify his sons but Johnny attacked and choked him. When Rogelio was able to free himself, he got a bolo and hacked his son several times.

Johnny was declared dead on arrival at the Pandan district
