Fire destroys Virac bodega

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Virac has yet to finish its investigation of the afternoon blaze that occurred at a warehouse in San Isidro Village.

Guards of the 1st Catanduanes Police Mobile Force Company noticed the smoke coming out from somewhere at the back of the building of businessman Arnulfo Reyes, 51, and immediately informed the Virac police.

In turn, the police contacted BFP Virac and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). As the fire and rescue crews responded, the local police began managing the traffic buildup along the national road.

Initial investigation disclosed that the blaze, which started sometime before 4:50 P.M. of Sept. 13, 2019, began inside the storage room containing power tools, airconditioning units, and other equipment.

Fire ground commander FO3 Marjoe Isorena declared the fire under control at 5 P.M. and fire out 15 minutes later. A report on the estimated cost of damages and the cause of the incident has yet to be issued.
