Nomination now open for 2019 TOCA search

The deadline for the submission of nominations for The Outstanding Catandunganon Award (TOCA) has been set on Oct. 4, 2019, with the event itself scheduled on Oct. 26 as part of the Catandungan Festival celebration.

TOCA chairperson and Catanduanes State University (CSU) President Minerva Morales said copies of nomination forms are available at the Office of the Mayors of the different municipalities as well as in the official Facebook page of the TOCA 2019.

The documents should be sent directly by the nominators or any courier to the Office of the President at the 2nd Floor of the CSU Main Building or via email to or, or to the official TOCA Facebook page.

Intended to institutionalize public recognition of Catandunganons whose exemplary achievements are worthy of emulation, the award is open to male and female Catandunganons, deceased or living, whose dedication and commitment to their professions or vocations have advanced their calling, public welfare and provincial, regional, national or international development.

According to the criteria, the nominee will be judged for his or her excellence in his field of endeavor and for outstanding contribution to the cause of humanity during a substantial part of his life.

The nominees will be judged on the following criteria: service to the community, 40 points; professional excellence in his field of endeavor, innovativeness and pioneering spirit, 40 points; and, moral rectitude, 20 points.

The following awards categories are open for nomination: Medicine and Allied Disciplines; Agriculture and Aquaculture; Finance; Law; Education; Arts and Literature; Community Development; Media; Government Service; Sports; Ecclesiastical; Research; and, Science and Technology.
