A mechanic working for the Virac municipal government was arrested last week by barangay officials in Cavinitan after brandishing a pistol during an argument with a neighbor.

Barangay chairman Matthea Tablizo and tanod Arnel Ramirez turned over to the police Herbert Caldet Era, 55, and the Black Widow Cal. 22 Magnum revolver without serial number and with five bullets.

According to reports, the LGU mechanic has been using the yard and road in front of his house to repair cars during his spare time and had angered a neighbor disturbed by the noise.

The neighbor had also written the former administration to complain against the activities of Era who he claimed was conducting an auto repair business without a permit.

A case for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law, is now being prepared against the suspect for filing before the proper court.
