Illegal drugs were seized last week from a barangay secretary in Baras town during a buy-bust operation mounted by several police units.

Officers of the Baras police and intelligence operatives from the regional and provincial police offices led by Maj. Darwin Asejo arrested Laurence Castro Abogne, 32, at 9:30 P.M. of Oct. 9, 2019 after the poseur-buyer confirmed the exchange of drugs and money.

The police confiscated two medium-sized plastic sachets containing white crystalline believed to be shabu and four smaller sachets containing the same drug.

Also seized were one red pouch, a cellphone, and P720 in cash.

Three days later, on Oct. 12, a police search of a residence in Virac yielded shabu, resulting to the arrest of a couple.

Armed with a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 42 Presiding Judge Genie Gapas-Agbada, Virac policemen led by Maj. Bon Billy Timuat, together with regional and provincial intelligence officers, swooped down on the house of Raul “Bulaw” Sorreda and Adelaida “My” Trinidad in barangay Danicop at 2:50 A.M.

The search led to the confiscation of seven small sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride and two non-drug items.

Appropriate cases for violations of Republic Act 9165 are being prepared for filing against the three suspects.
