Catanduanes’ pride in the biggest and grandest edition of OKB Regional Trade & Travel Fair

Along with 248 other medium, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) from across Bicol region, 49 local producers from Catanduanes offered a wide range of products from food, handicrafts, furnitures, wearables and homestyles, holiday decors and more at the recent Orgullo Kan Bicol (OKB) Regional Trade & Travel at SM Megamall.

Beyond the more or less P7.4 million in cash and booked sales, the participating MSMEs fom the island were given the opportunity for further market exposure and bridged them closer to new buyers hailing from different places. 

The opening last Oct. 9, 2019 was graced by Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, the chairman of Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship; DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, DTI Regional Operations Group Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona, DTI Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns Ameenah Fajardo, Mrs. Mila Drilon, AKO Bicol Rep. Alfredo Garbin, DTI Region 5 Team headed by RD Jocelyn Blanco, local chief executives, and other local government officials from all over the region.

Vice President Leni Robredo was also present during the  5th and last day of the trade fair.

Adding color to the event were local performers with their own showcase of talents and masterpieces during the week-long fair. Representing Catanduanes was Nonong Icaranom and company, with their band namely Sadiling Tanong Bicol performing their own songs which uplifted the groovy crowd during the 3rd day of the fair.

To show support to the happy island’s local MSMEs, in full force were delegates and guests from Catanduanes, including Acting Vice Governor Hon. Lorenzo Templonuevo, PBM Edwin Tanael and other SP members, former Governor Araceli Wong, Mayors Honesto Tabligan of Pandan, Juan Rodulfo of Bato, Francisco Camano Jr. of San Miguel and Glenda Aguilar of Caramoran, Bato Vice Mayor Roy Regalado, Virac SB members Sonny Francisco and Ephraim Antonio Gianan, MPDOs, tourism officers, and other Catanduanes government officials, staff and guests from private sectors.

Another highlight during the opening was the awarding of the 2018 OKB Top Sellers for three categories: Processed Food, Wearables & Homestyle and Furnitures. Catanduanes’ pride, Marclo Enterprises, was named 2018 OKB Best Seller for Furniture Category, with the award was proudly received by its owner, Marc Louie Magtangob, along with her mother Rita Magtangob.
