MANILA VAGRANT COMES HOME. Thanks to the FB group Taga-Virac Kami (TVK), Joel Cervantes (left) was able to come home to barangay Sto. Niño from a two-year stay in Manila where he was once jailed for vagrancy and, before he was assisted, survived on food given by NGOs to street dwellers. According to him, he went to Manila to find work but was instead robbed of his meager possessions. He was among street dwellers sleeping in the sidewalks at Roxas boulevard when a TVK member chanced upon him and uploaded his story on the fb site. He was given a bus ticket back to Catanduanes and a livelihood with the help of kind-hearted Viracnons locally and abroad who chipped in to buy him a pedicab.
