CLUTCHING HIS PRECIOUS AWARD. Sergeant Ventura Lumbao was honored by the provincial government led by Gov. Joseph Cua during the 120th celebration of the Philippine Independence Day lasg June 12, 2018. A rifleman of the Liberator Bicol Brigade 158 Infantry under the command of the late Col. Salvador A. Rodolfo. Sgt. Lumbao later enlisted with the Philippine Scouts organized by the US Army to harass, ambush, conduct raids on garrisons of Japanese soldiers, gather intelligence information and to provide support to the return of General Douglas McArthur. He was also honored by Virac Mayor Samuel Laynes, Vice Mayor Arlynn Arcilla and the Sangguniang Bayan which passed a resolution recognizing his service and sacrifice in helping Filipinos regain freedom.
